Steve Pink to direct Bad Santa 2
Billy Bob Thornton returning as Willie
Hot Tub Time Machine director Steve Pink has signed on to direct foul-mouthed festive follow-up Bad Santa 2 .
A sequel to Terry Zwigoff’s 2003 black comedy , Bad Santa 2 will see Billy Bob Thornton reprising his role as a boozy conman who dresses up as Father Christmas.
Pink will also write the sequel’s script, having impressed previously with his screenplays for John Cusack vehicles Grosse Pointe Blank and High Fidelity .
Could that mean Cusack will get a role in the sequel? Considering Pink’s work with him in the past, we like those odds. Cusack as a yammering drunk? We’re up for that.
Pink could have a hard time keeping up with the first film’s infamously filthy shenanigans, mind - Bad Santa contained 159 iterations of the ‘F’ word, and 300 swear words in total.
With writing yet to commence on the sequel, no plot details are available, but it’s pretty safe to bet that Willie will be back boozing as usual.
Bad Santa 2 opens in cinemas in 2013.
