Microsoft has kicked off its Xbox One marketing campaign with a new commercial featuring England football captain Steven Gerrard and Star Trek actor Zachary Quinto. Titled ‘Invitation’, the campaign beckons consumers to join the Xbox One party. The official blurb reads: “This is an invitation to a new generation. Where your games and entertainment are no longer separated, but together in one. This is an invitation from the all-in-one, Xbox One. Jump ahead.”
Sources told the Guardian that the cost of the Xbox One advertising blitz, which will span TV, cinema, radio, digital, social and retail marketing, will exceed $100 million (£62m). Games featured in the debut commercial include Xbox One exclusives Forza Motorsport 5, Dead Rising 3, Ryse: Son of Rome and Titanfall. Xbox One will launch in 13 markets on November 22, 2013, priced at £430 / $500 / $500.
