Stranger Things season 2 images show off Eleven's new hair and promises "we'll learn where she came from"
You may have gone over the Stranger Things season 2 trailer with a fine toothcomb (I know I certainly did) but we’re still guessing at this point. But, hey, if you like analysing every last morsel of Stranger Things season 2 goodness then you’re going to love these cryptic images. Plus, the showrunners tease just what’s going down with Eleven (but not the deal with her new ‘do).
First things first: the images. EW have released eight new images (which you can see below) offering up lots of head-scratching and magnifying-glass moments. Are Jonathan and Nancy an item? Why does Joyce have a fancy car? What is Will so afraid of? AND WHO ATE THAT EGGO? That’s the real mystery here.
Eleven’s got curly hair. The Upside Down must have some really great stylists. I’m no hair expert but is it possible to grow out your hair that much in less than a year? She certainly looks more grown-up than the rest of the kids. Just what happened to her betweens seasons one and two?
We’ve seen these Ghostbusters costumes from the trailer but, unless I’m seeing things, Will’s costume has a slightly different colour to the rest of his friends. Did Joyce screw up? I’m subscribing to the theory that the Duffer Brothers want to colour-code Will as different in every way possible.
Jonathan and Nancy working together was one of the highlights of the first season but it can only mean bad things are afoot in the sleepy town of Hawkins, Indiana. Also: JoNance 4eva <3
Joyce has some new wheels. Perks of her new boyfriend, perhaps?
Will is looking very upset about something. I mean, I would be too if I had that haircut - it’s so 80s - but clearly something isn’t right in the aftermath of his unwanted trip to the Upside Down.

One thing’s for sure, the Duffer Brothers aren’t giving too much away but they have been talking about what season 2 has in store for Eleven come Halloween, as well as confirming her return, “I want people to know that she’s back and she’s a major part of the season,” says Matt Duffer, before offering up a teasing glimpse of what’s to come, “We do get into her story and backstory. We learn about where she came from and how she came into the world and the program that resulted in her.”
Even Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, is excited at just how much more in-depth Eleven’s story is going to get: “She has a storyline this season for her, and it’s an emotional transition. Last season I didn’t get to expand [on Eleven’s story] – this season is giving me that opportunity.”
So… are you excited for a fuller look at Eleven this time around? Or are you more excited for a clue you’ve spotted in the images? Let us know in the comments!
