Strider making comeback in 2014

Capcom has announced that a new version of classic 1989 side-scrolling action game Strider is due in 2014. The game is in development at Double Helix Games, who are also working on Killer Instinct for Xbox One. This latest game--a 2.5D side-scroller--was confirmed during Capcom's panel at Comic-Con, which is currently taking place in San Diego.

The game will feature all the kind of moves you'd expect from a Strider title, including wall-climbing, aerial combat, and plenty of sword slashing. According to Capcom, levels will be non-linear, and you'll be able to revisit them multiple times, using new abilities to access different areas.

The story kicks off when "Strider Hiryu receives orders to assassinate Grandmaster Meio, supreme dictator of Earth, who has plunged humanity into a dystopian dark age." Sounds pretty faithful to the original franchise.

There's a video of the game in action, which you can watch right here. Strider will be available as a digital download only on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in 2014.
