DC fans (and lovers of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody") were pretty excited when the full-length Suicide Squad trailer hit late last month, but I have the feeling this new version will put an even bigger smile on their faces. Behold, the Suicide Squad trailer, re-cut with clips from the DC animated universe:
Sure, the lip-syncing is off and if the upcoming film is your first exposure to these characters, this trailer might not do it for you. But to those of us who grew up watching shows like Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League, or any of animator/producer Bruce Timm's other DC projects, this is pure eye candy. Plus, given that Harley Quinn debuted in the cartoons, this feels like a fitting tribute to her and the other miscreants contracted by the government to save the world.
Directed by David Ayer and starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney, and Joel Kinnaman, Suicide Squad will open in the UK and US on August 5, 2016.
