Nintendo has confirmed a Super Mario 3D World release date of November 29 in Europe, one week after the Wii U game’s US launch. The release date was revealed during the latest Nintendo Direct presentation, which was also used to debut the new gameplay trailer at the top of the page.
Billed by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata as “the next step forward in the new style of Mario 3D action games that we first introduced in Super Mario 3D Land for 3DS", the title features a multiplayer mode for the first time in the Mario 3D action series. It supports four users playing as Mario, Luigi, Toad and Peach, each of whom have their own unique abilities.
It also features a range of new power ups including Cat Mario, which allows the plumber to perform actions like climbing up walls and scratching enemies with his claws, and cherries, which enable players to duplicate their characters. In our latest Super Mario 3D World preview, we called the game the lovechild of Super Mario Bros 2 and Mario 3D Land.
