Supernatural Season 9: What Are The Chances?
CW network president makes encouraging noises
The current season of Supernatural has a new showrunner in the form of Jeremy Carver, and he generally seems to have pleased fans and general viewers alike. But has he pleased them enough to secure a ninth season of the show that was originally planned to sun for five?
Talking at the Television Critics Association winter press tour earlier today, CW network president Mark Pedowitz spoke about the possibility of a ninth season.
"No determination’s been made,” said Pedowitz. “We are pleased with how Wednesday night has worked out with Arrow being a bona fide hit and Supernatural actually gaining viewers back again. I think creatively the show’s in a great place and there’s always a good shot that [a renewal] could happen.”
So when might we know? Maybe very soon, reckons Pedowitz, who says they are waiting to see how the show performs when it returns from its Christmas break: “Over the next couple of weeks we’ll make the determination on what will come back for next fall.”
