Namco Bandai has announced that the next chapter in its Tales of the World franchise will be coming to the PSP with Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology this summer. This will be the first in the RPG series to make the platform jump to the PSP, but will include some familiar characters from the previous games, including Stahn Aileron and Reid Hershel from Tales of Destiny I and II,Lloyd Irving from Tales of Symphonia and Luke fon Fabre from Tales of the Abyss, and many more.
As well as using some of the same cast members, Radiant Mythology will also continue the tradition of using a complex character creation system. Everything down to a character's voice, hairstyle, and class will be customizable. Then characters will continue to evolve through their journey as they find and create over 800 items to equip, use or trade. When all of those items start coming into play in the free-roaming battle system the world could get really interesting.
Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology will have a completely new storyline set in the world of Terresia. The once peaceful world is now under attack by The Devourer, a terrible creature that destroys everything in its path. It will be up to the World Tree to summon a hero strong enough to defeat The Devourer and save the world. Although the hero must fight on his own he will be able to trade items, weapons and magic using Ad Hoc mode - hey, anyone could use a little bit of help when going up against someone called The Devourer.
