Tekken boss talks PSP
[PSP] Series director Katsuhiro Harada updates us on Dark Resurrection
Friday 12 May 2006
The original Tekken 5 arcade game had such high specs that it was quite a challenge getting it on to PSP but it's not just a mere port: for PSP we completely remade all the materials in the game.
There will be 34 playable characters, each of which will have their own story with CG ending movies, including the two new characters Lili and Dragunov. We'll have all the modes of previous PS2 instalments of Tekken as well as some new ones.
One of these is a ghost feature that works in a similar way to the ghost modes in racing games. A ghost character memorises your style and you can then upload your character to share it with other players, or download other ghost data from around the world to fight against other players. You can also fight other gamers with the ad-hoc wireless mode.

Another new feature is the dojo, which is an extension of story mode. You have several dojos to work your way through and, as you beat each character, you achieve a higher ranking in each dojo until you eventually move on to the next. You also receive 'fight money' which can be used to upgrade your costume.
Tekken is known for its intense fighting but we also have other non-fighting minigames for both single-player and multiplayer modes, although we can't say any more about that at the moment.

To summarise, every detail has been optimised for PSP. We've got so much out of PSP that even players of the arcade game should be satisfied.
