The Assassin's Creed movie VR experience lets you dive into the Animus
If you've ever wondered what it would be like to plug into the Animus then this first day of advent calendar chocolate is your lucky day. The Assassin's Creed movie VR experience is premiering tonight at The Game Awards but is handily going to be available to download from the Oculus and Gear VR Store for free. If you don't have a VR device it's also going to be free to try in select AMC cinemas in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Austin and New York.
The 10 minute experience is the result of a team up between AMD, Alienware and 20th Century Fox and, from the trailer above, it looks like you're strapped into the Animus before heading back to the Spanish Inquisition setting of the movie. From what I can gather, it's completely passive but the experience was shot on location in Malta alongside the movie itself and immerses you in some violent action before popping you to the top of a probably intimidatingly high tower with none other than Michael Fassbender. Spoiler: you're probably going to jump.
Directed by Justin Kurzel and starring Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Ariane Labed, Michael K. Williams, Jeremy Irons, and Brendan Gleeson, Assassin's Creed opens in US theatres on December 21, 2016 before being released in UK cinemas on January 1, 2017.
