In Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel’s heroes will travel through the cosmos to battle Thanos - but just because they have a common enemy, that doesn’t mean everyone will get along perfectly right from the jump. In an interview with Fandango, the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 teases a bit of a rivalry between the Guardians and the Avengers and gave us some new info about the first time their paths cross.

They meet in space

Zoe Salanda, who plays Gamora, spoke about the Guardians’ attitude going into the superhero team-up movie. "We were so cocky. Deep down we were like, ‘We’re the Guardians of the Galaxy!’ But it was super exciting -- the fact that they’re bringing every character in the Marvel universe together and that this super villain is such a prominent figure amongst the Guardians of the Galaxy gives our level of importance quite a boost.” But she also threw in a little trash talk and revealed where the two groups meet: “We're also in space, so we're not being held by gravity. And you know we're stronger.”

Interesting: so that indicates the Guardians won’t be coming to Earth to fight Thanos, which means the Avengers must decide that Thanos provides a big enough threat that it’s worth leaving their planet to take him on. As for Saldana’s taunt about the Guardians being stronger, I think Thor and The Incredible Hulk might have something to say about that...

The Guardians aren’t intimidated

The Avengers have saved Earth as a group twice already, but by the time Infinity War hits, the Guardians will have saved the whole galaxy twice. "We're the Guardians of the Galaxy -- we don't get intimidated!" said Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord.

The Guardians stick together

One of fans’ biggest concerns with Infinity War is that there might simply be too much happening in the movie. What will an all-out space battle with tons of characters look like? Well, thanks to Dave Bautista, who plays Drax, now we know.

“When we come onto set as the Guardians, we are the Guardians," he said. "Anybody stepping onto set with us has to deal with all of us. There are usually one or two Avengers. We are the Guardians, we come as that and carry a scene like that and we do business as usual, which is a lot of chemistry, a lot of interaction amongst ourselves.” The actor says that Joe and Anthony Russo, Infinity War’s directing team, were “very encouraging” of keeping the Guardians together. “I think we’ve established ourselves and we deserve to be right up there with the Avengers,” Bautista said. “I think we’re just as strong, if not stronger, as a unit, ‘cause we’re a family."

Despite the trash talk and the bickering that’s sure to go down when you get Tony Stark and Rocket Raccoon in the same area, let’s hope the two teams can keep their eye on the ball long enough to bring Thanos down once and for all. In the meantime, read why we think a bunch of MCU heroes need to die in Infinity War and take a look at some concept art and behind-the-scenes videos from the film’s set.
