Bruce Webb’s sweet but salty tale twists the teen sex-com thoughtfully, as 15-year-old Liverpudlian Robbie (Josh Bolt) discovers he’s not only dying for sex, but dying of a heart condition.

We never really doubt whether best friend Ziggy (endearing non-pro Eugene Byrne) can finagle someone – be it the school slapper or local massage parlour – into letting bedridden Robbie ‘go out with a bang’, but it’s a fun guessing-game.

Both plotting and playing are a bit ragged and the visuals are telly-tastic, but the film’s fresh, unvarnished take on male friendship is altogether winning.
