The Darkness 2 dated for October, new trailer now playing
Box art, screenshots and new teaser released for Digital Extremes' sequel
2K Games has dropped word that The Darkness 2 will be ready to squeeze the life out of PS3s, Xbox 360s and PCs on October 4th in North America, and October 7th everywhere else. The announcement came with a pair of fresh screenshots, official box art and this appropriately moody teaser trailer:
Picking up two years after the first game, The Darkness 2 finds series protagonist Jackie Estacado cooling his heels as the don of the Estacado crime family, while barely managing to keep a lid on The Darkness powers that caused him all sorts of grief in the original. Predictably, it's not long before this delicate balance is shot to shit, and Jackie is forced to give in to his demonic tendencies to strike back against warring mob families and - perhaps - the source of The Darkness itself.
None of this is really conveyed in the box art or new screen shots, but at least they're cool to look at:
