The Force is overrated: FACT!

Which Wars?
A New Hope

Vader and Obi-Wan go at it like a pair of grandmas scaring children from an orchard with their walking sticks. Compared with the sabering acrobatics in the later (earlier) films this geriatric tussle doesn’t even illustrate the ability to walk around much, let alone a power that apparently binds the galaxy together. They’re just clunking them together. Over and over. And watch Obi-Wan’s plodding, old-man spin around, it takes so long Vader should have been able to carve ‘Darth was ‘ere’ into his back.

And then Obi-Wan just gives up for god’s sake. There was only five stormtroopers to deal with and they had their backs to Luke, Han and co. It’s not as if Obi-Wan was that old. If Yoda could still lift an X-Wing in his hundreds, surely Obi-Wan could Force push some stormtroopers in his fifties. Just lame.

Which Wars?
Revenge of the Sith

“Not as clumsy or random as a blaster; an elegant weapon for a more civilized age”, says Obi-Wan in A New Hope. That right? Well he didn’t seem to be complaining about the clumsiness or randomness when, up against Grievous, he resorted to gunning him down with a blaster. Was this the more ‘civilized age’ Obi-wan was yawning on about? Or does it not count when, as here, he’d managed to lose his saber again? Remember when Han points out during Luke’s training on the Millenium Falcon that a lightsaber is “no match for a good blaster.” Surely Obi-Wan should have agreed that without one Grievous would have nailed his ass, Force or no Force. But he didn’t.
