The game credit sequences you'll actually enjoy
Watching a list of names is usually boring as hell. But in these games it's a pleasure
Sam & Max Hit The Road | 1993 | PC | Lucasarts
A subtle but rather fun one, this. Upon clocking the classic first Sam & Max game - we refrain from abbreviating it, for obvious reasons - the player was rewarded with a little shooting gallery mini-game to play through the end credits. (Or longer. Watch the whole vid for one last gag)
The thing is, though, it was viewed from an angle behind the targets so that we only got to see them in silhouette. In a nod to long-term Lucasarts fans, several of those awaiting a good blasting appeared to be characters owned by the company. The Tentacle from Day Of The Tentacle is present, as is R2-D2, and some fans think that the punctured voodoo doll may be Guybrush Threepwood from Monkey Island. The one we’re really interested in though is the cat. Maybe it’s just the prospect of it getting shot to pieces making us too enthusiastic, but we tend to think it really does look like Bubsy. And in our minds it always will be. His ritual execution as part of a fairground amusement is too satisfying a prospect to let go.
