The upcoming The Girl with all the Gifts is definitely a zombie movie. There's no two ways about it. Cannibalistic infected have overrun the world, and military order is the law of the land. But this is also a zombie movie that focuses on a special girl who, though infected, retains clear thought and emotion. It's fitting then, that the newly-revealed poster for the film isn't particularly scary or threatening, but calm and stylish.
As we've discussed before, The Girl with all the Gifts is basically The Last of Us: The Movie (at least until we get an actual The Last of Us movie). And that, by the way, is a very good thing.
Even if you found the gameplay in Naughty Dog's post-apocalyptic romp to be a bit lacking, the tale of Joel and Ellie was told skillfully and effectively. If The Girl with all the Gifts can give us the same story vibe without making us worry if we have enough crafting supplies, I think we're in for a treat.
Directed by Colm McCarthy and starring Sennia Nanua, Gemma Arterton, Glenn Close, and Paddy Considine, The Girl with all the Gifts is out in cinemas September 23 this year.
