Remember playing "the floor is lava" as a kid, hopping from furniture to furniture as you avoided touching the ground because it was … well, lava? Well, the makers of Shank, Don't Starve, and Invisible, Inc. certainly seem to recall those fun-filled afternoons and Saturday mornings, as evidenced by their new game, Hot Lava:
Interestingly, Hot Lava will be Klei Entertainment's first foray into the realm of 3D games. The studio is known for its expressive, colorful animation, and it doesn't seem that adding an extra dimension is hindering that a bit. The gameplay looks like a more fantastical version of Mirror's Edge, and since first-person parkour is a genre that desperately needs more games, I'm totally okay with that.
I also appreciate that the characters are life-size toys, with visible screws in their joints. Reminds me of the action figures I would play with while watching shows like Swat Kats and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Ah, youth.
