The Moth Diaries review

Stylish yet inert vampire drama from the director of American Psycho

Director Mary Harron's ( American Psycho ) latest follows the thorny path of Rebecca (Sarah Bolger), a student at a posh boarding school.

Already reeling from the death of her poet-father, Rebecca is further traumatised when her best friend Lucy (Sarah Gadon) is lured away by mysterious newbie Ernessa (Lily Cole), whom Rebecca naturally assumes is a vampire.

Atmospheric, to be sure, but wordy and largely non-eventful, The Moth Diaries attempts to be a sort of Twilight for smart kids, but feels more like homework.

Vamps-fans won’t find much to gnaw on here.
