The Punisher is getting his own Netflix series; First teaser trailer and image released
One of the many highlights of Daredevil's second season was Jon Bernthal's ultra-violent take on Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher. The performance inspired a lot of talk about a possible solo series for the character, and now Marvel have made it official.
The news comes courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, who note that Hannibal writer Steve Lightfoot will be the series' showrunner. Marvel also debuted the first teaser image and trailer for the series, which you can check out below...

This is great (if unsurprising) news; Bernthal did some great work in Daredevil season 2, and ever since this announcement has felt like a matter of when, not if. The only question now is when Marvel and Netflix choose to release it; we've still got solo seasons for Luke Cage and Iron Fist coming before those heroes team up with Jessica Jones (which has been green-lit for season 2) and Daredevil for The Defenders.
Entertainment Weekly notes that it still isn't clear if The Punisher will be showing up in that big team-up series, but it would be a great way to further tease the character before he ventures off for his solo escapades.
Starring Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Élodie Yung, Stephen Rider, Jon Bernthal, and Rosario Dawson, Daredevil season 2 is available on Netflix now.
