To Frogger’s credit, the marquee of the arcade cabinet tries to give some gravitas to the plight of the titular amphibian with a harrowing illustration of a tire bearing down on a briefcase-toting frog. Unfortunately, there’s nothing quite so dramatic in the game. In those trying days of limited color palettes, a skull and crossbones animation was as close as you could get to realistically rendering a smashed toad. We think this is closer to what they had in mind.
