The Top 7... steps to becoming a videogame snob

Step 2 - My console's games can beat up your console's games

On the other side of that same coin is this entry, in which a gamer will defend to the death the idea that a particular type of game on his or her chosen console is absolutely better than every similar game on another console. Period.

If we drained last month's entire paycheck or allowance into so-and-so system, that system had seriously better be perfect. And if it's not, we'll still tell ourselves over and over again that it is.

Above: This game is not good. Unless you're an Xbox 360 loyalist... then it's friggin' fantastic

This stubborn symptom of gaming snobbery has lead to some embarrassing arguments. Crash Bandicoot better than Super Mario? If you had a PlayStation and not an N64 sitting in your living room ten years ago, you'd sure as hell better believe it. Enchanted Arms on par with Final Fantasy XII? To the lonely RPG fan who threw his or her weight behind the 360, it has to be. And if you prefer Gran Turismo 4 to Forza Motorsport, which is clearly the better game in almost every measurable way, you obviously own a PS2 and not an Xbox. There's just no other explanation.

And don't start bringing logic into it. It's not that we're homers, it's just that game X kicks game Y's ass, despite the fact that all evidence and objective opinion proves otherwise.

By the way, if you really want to follow through on this step, be sure toconsistently accusethe authors of articles you disagree with of being corrupt and "bias" in letters, emails, blog posts, story comments, and so on.
