The Two Hobbit Films Now Have Names

You can probably guess one of them

Considering the book’s famous subtitle, we were hoping for Part One to be called The Hobbit: There and Part Two to be called The Hobbit: And Back Again , but sadly not quite. Instead Part One will be known as The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey , and Part Two will be The Hobbit: There And Back Again . The first title seems to be a doff of the cap to the name of the first chapter of the book: “An Unexpected Party”.

The first film is now schediled to be released on 14 December 2012, while the second will be released on December 13, 2013, barring any Aztec apocalypse, of course.

Meanwhile, Peter Jackson has begun answering fans’ questions about the movie online at his official Facebook page. The first query he addresses concerns whether we’re going to see the White Council attacking Dol Guldor:

“I’m not going to say just what and when, but I will confirm that both the White Council and Dol Guldur will feature in the movies. And not just in one scene either. Just how to visualise it has been a challenge, but fortunately Alan Lee and John Howe went crazy with ideas, and it should look pretty cool.

“In fact to celebrate the start of these 20 questions, I’ll show you an exclusive photo of the White Council planning the attack on Dol Guldur! Even if you don’t want to be hit with spoilers, you should still take a look. For the first image of Gandalf, Elrond and Galadriel brandishing an array of fearsome Elvish weapons, CLICK HERE !”
