Meet former army medic Bob Stookey, a new character for season four of The Walking Dead , played by Larry Gilliard Jr ( The Machinist , Gangs Of New York ). Once again, Entertainment Weekly has the scoop.
Stookey's name will be known to fans of the original comic book series, but his character has had a bit of an overhaul. He won’t be from Woodbury, working for the Governor, but will instead be found by Daryl Dixon about a week before the events of season four start.
New showrunner Scott M Gimple tells Entertainment Weekly, “His backstory is not entirely the same as in the comic and the novel… I think he’s seen things go bad over and over, and winding up in this stable place doesn’t shake him from his experience. He struggles with that.”
Gilliard Jr adds: “You can see there’s something deeper and darker that’s going on with this character, just from the first episode. We don’t really know what it is. We just know he’s got some issues that he’s dealing with.”
