The Wolverine 2 will shoot after X-Men: Apocalypse
James Mangold reveals future plans
James Mangold has confirmed that The Wolverine 2 will shoot after Bryan Singer has finished filming on X-Men: Apocalypse , which should see the sequel arrive sometime in either 2017 or 2018.
X-Men: Apocalypse is currently scheduled to open on 27 May 2016, so we’d suggest a 2018 release date would be most realistic for Wolvie’s next solo outing.
That would see Hugh Jackman into his fifties, although given the actor’s seemingly evergreen appearance, that shouldn’t unduly damage his portrayal of the ageless mutant.
As for X-Men: Apocalypse , we recently learned that the film will be set in the ‘80s, as revealed exclusively to this magazine by Singer himself.
It certainly sounds as though the wider world of the X-Men franchise is in particularly rude health, with X-Men: Days Of Future Past set to kick things off on 22 May 2014.
