The Leftovers S2 trailer
HBO has dropped the first trailer for season 2 of its existential drama, The Leftovers, starring Justin Theroux as Kevin Garvey, a small-town police chief who decides to uproot his family to Miracle, Texas following a major catastrophe. That incident covered much of season 1, in which 2 percent of the Earth's population had vanished mysteriously.
The first season closely followed Tom Perrotta's source novel, wrapping up its narrative in time with the book. That means writer Damon Lindelof and Perrotta have cooked up a new story for the forthcoming season, which you can see in the new trailer:
As much as the first set of episodes were criticised for being somewhat lumbering, the trailer hints at a peppier pace for the Garveys as they relocate to a spot where no-one has been reported missing. Liv Tyler, Carrie Coon, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Ann Dowd, Margaret Qually, Chris Zylka, Regina King and Kevin Carroll co-star.
The Leftovers season 2 premieres on HBO October 4.
