A recently-releasedtrailerfor THQ's Saint's Row 2 has been criticised as being "unusually pompous" for its digs at Grand Theft Auto IV.
Industry analystMike Hickey commented on the trailer, which makes fun of GTA's in-game social activities like bowling, watching TV and going to a cabaret club.
"The trailer directly attacks Grand Theft Auto IV in game content, an unusually pompous position in our view, considering GTA IV is estimated to be the highest grossing 1st week entertainment release of all time," said Hickey, also pointing out GTA IV's review scores topping Metacritic scores for both PS3 and 360.
The trailer asks if you'd rather go bowling - with the distinct GTA text font - or do other "crazy shit" possible in SR2 which, it insinuates, is far more exciting.
"We remain conservative on our sales expectations for Saint's Row 2," added Hickey, "in light of mediocre game previews and a delayed release in-part from quality concerns," according toGamasutra.
Saint's Row 2 was pushed back from August 26 to October 14 due to product quality and marketing considerations.
