Tim Burton has revealed that his movie adaptation of gothic '60s soap opera Dark Shadows won’t be released in 3D.
Though his revisionist Alice In Wonderland was released by Disney in 3D, the director’s proven he has his finger on the pulse of moviemaking by acknowledging that not everybody loves the format.
“I have no plans for [ 3D ],” he tells The Wrap . “I loved doing Alice [In Wonderland] in 3D. Frankeweenie , gonna do that in 3D.
“There’s people like, ‘Everything’s gonna be in 3D,’ or ‘I hate 3D!’ I think people should have a choice. I don’t think it should be forced on anybody. At the same time, it’s great, some of it.”
Burton’s eighth movie team-up with Johnny Depp, Shadows is set in 1972, where vampire Barnabas (Depp) awakens after two centuries of slumber and returns to his home, Collinwood Manor.
There, he finds the estate has fallen into ruin, as have the relationships between the dysfunctional family who live there.
Burton’s assembled an impressive collection of actors for the film, including Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, Chloe Moretz and Jackie Earle Haley.

Dark Shadows is due to open in the US on 11 May 2012. It currently has no UK release date.
