Tokobot Plus: Mysteries of the Karakuri
Employ a gang of tiny robot mobsters to help you wrangle treasures
Ever dream of having an army of small metallic buddies at your command? Chances are that you weren't imagining these minions to be cute, but that's exactly the angle that Tokobot Plus works. Tokobot Plus expands on its previous PSP incarnation as it makes the journey to the PS2 by bolting on new levels, more action and simpler controls. With a pile of babybots to manipulate, you jog the main character Bolt through some platforming levels in search of treasure.
Ten new levels have been added to this version, but they are now hidden within the original eight PSP levels. The idea is to promote a more free-roaming approach to the Tokobot treasure hunt and make the experience less linear. Many of the hidden levels have some kind of gameplay twist that will require creative use of your bot buddies like using them as helicopter blades to float through a treacherous vertical maze or arranging their marching formations to cause platforms to appear/disappear. Of course, at the end of the day, you're pretty much just on a bop-around for treasure, but at least you can swap your ill-gotten booty for new upgrades to the game's other key feature the Overdrive.
