Watch: Tom Hiddleston and Mia Wasikowska talk working with ghosts in Crimson Peak
What's the most important part of a ghost story? The ghosts, duh! They come in all shapes and sizes from The Sixth Sense's relatively normal-looking spirits, to The Ring's holy-shit-what-is-that killer corpse. Naturally, fans are curious what makes Guillermo del Toro's Crimson Peak ghosts different, so we sat down with the director and stars of the film, Tom Hiddleston and Mia Wasikowska for a chat about working with ghosts.
“They’re warnings about the past and the dangers of the future” explains Hiddleston. “They were anatomically alarming… because they were all frozen in some kind of physical trauma, and so it was very weird to be sharing space with that.”

Well, there you have it! If you weren't terrified before, we bet you are now.
Crimson Peak tells the tale of Hiddleston's English gentlemen who falls in love and marries an American author played by Wasikowska. The newly-weds move into his imposing gothic mansion to live with his sister Jessica Chastain, but the honeymoon period is short lived as something sinister is going on in the house.
Co-starring Charlie Hunnam and Burn Gorman, Crimson Peak will open in the UK and the US on October 16 2015.
