Tomorrows Haven Episode Postponed In Wake of Newtown Shootings
The episode – which features violent scenes set in a school – was postponed in the States last week for obvious reasons and Syfy UK has sensitively followed suit in the UK too
Last week, episode 3.12 of Haven , “Reunion", which features scenes of violence set in a school, was pulled in the States, which, after the tragic events in Newtown, Connecticut was sensitive and sensible move. Now we have confirmation that Syfy UK will be following suit.
It’s a shame for us who’ve been following this rapidly improving show, but we believe it is truly the only sensible and respectful course of action, so we applaud both channels their decisions.
The US Syfy network has announced, “At this time, no decision has been made as to when the episode will air.” The UK channel is in a similar situation.
Actress Laura Vandervoort ( Smallville ), who appears in the two-episode arc that starts with "Reunion” fully supported Syfy’s decision. “There’s a fine line between our art of evoking emotions in others, portraying tainted, troubled and broken characters, and reality,” she told TVLine . “I feel immense pain and sympathy for the families and children [in Newtown] and couldn’t bear the thought of the images in tonight’s episode upsetting people… I’m proud of Haven and Syfy for making the decision they did.”
In the UK, Syfy will show last year’s Haven Christmas special in place of "Reunion" tomorrow, a repeat of Face Off episode eight in place of Wednesday’s and Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III in place of the Sunday repeat.
We would also like to express our deepest sympathy for everyone in Newtown.
