Tron Sequel Plot Downloaded
And it’s now called… TRZ?
Last July, Disney sparked plenty of excitement when it announced that a sequel to compu-thriller Tron would finally see the screen after years of rumoured development.
Fans were less thrilled by word that the movie – which will boast state-of-the-art CG and a cameo from original star Jeff Bridges – would be burdened with the title Tr2n.
Well, it looks like the studio is going one better (or make that worse) by shortening the thing even further, to TRZ.
Plot details
As well as the title, Production Weekly (via Cinema Blend ) also has some early plot details: “After being transported into the surreal landscape of a mainframe computer to destroy an intruder (Tron), a programmer finds himself allied with the leader of a rebellion against a corrupt cyber-entity.”
While that sounds a lot like the plot to the original, it also hints at a development that would build handily on the first film’s story – imagine a brand new programmer sucked into Tron’s world to put down a revolution led against Flynn (Bridges).
So far, the sequel is sounding great, even if the title needs some serious re-thinking.
