How To Train Your Dragon Dominates Animation Awards Nominations
Everyone is expecting that Toy Story 3 is a shoe-in to win the Best Animated Feature Oscar next year, but there are quite a few film fans (including a few members of the SFX crew) who wouldn’t mind if How To Train Your Dragon managed to defy expectations. In which case, the nominations list for the 38th Annual Annie Awards (run by the International Animated Film Society) make for exciting reading: Dragon leads the way with 15 nominations ( Toy Story 3 only gets three), and is up for the top prize – Best Animated Feature – against Despicable Me , Tangled , The Illusionist and Toy Story 3 . But these kind of specialist awards ceremonies usually go for more esoteric selections (bet they give Best Feature to The Illusionist, mainly because it’s not Hollywood) and you still have consider the Pixar Triquel as Oscar favourite.
The Walking Dead Ends On A US High
The final episode of The Walking Dead ’s first six-episode season in the States managed to gain the highest viewing figures the show has achieved so far – six million viewers. Oh, and it’s broken all sorts of records for demographics on cable channels (the kind of figures advertisers like to hear). If you include the show’s repeat showing later in the evening, the total goes up to 8.1 million, reckons The Hollywood Reporter . The site also reports that the show has now the dubious honour of having knocked Chuck off the top of the list of the most pirated show on torrent downloads.
Eliza Dushku Leaves Bird Dog
Only last month we were reporting that Dollhouse and Tru Calling star Eliza Dushku had secured the led role in a new cop series called Bird Dog . But now it seems she has left the show. The actress posted on her Twitter feed : “Hey guys! News to report – We have mutually & AMICABLY decided to part ways on Bird Dog due to creative differences. No worries/fears/tears!”
Iron Man 3 Will Be A Multi-Sequel To A Whole Bunch Of Marvel Movie s
Iron Man director Jon Favreau has told MTV.com that Iron Man 3 , won’t only be a sequel to Iron Man , it’ll be a sequel to a whole bunch of other Marvel movies too. “In theory, Iron Man 3 is going to be a sequel or continuation of Thor , Hulk , Captain America and Avengers ,” he says. “This whole world... I have no idea what it is. I don’t think they do either, from conversations I've had with [the other directors].” It seems, bizarrely, that a lot of the Marvel movie directors are working in a bit of a bubble. “I don’t know a lot about Thor, ” admits Favreau. “I’ve talked to Kenneth Branagh. I've met the cast members. I had a conversation with Joss Whedon in passing, giving him my two cents about the film.”
