The One Where: As Captain Jack returns from his sojourn with the Doctor, a former partner (both professional and sexual) from his time agent past comes through the Rift, asking them to help him find three nuclear devices spread across Cardiff. But the newcomer soon turns bad...
Verdict: Witty, exciting and with a real sense of adventure, “Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang” arrives with most of the first series’ rougher edges ironed out. While the plot’s preposterous and a tad flimsy, you can’t help being carried away by this season opener’s Who-like appetite for a fun romp. With minimal swearing and brooding, James Marsters’ time agent Captain John steals the show as he leads the gang on a wild goose chase. It’ll be interesting to see how the rest of the series copes without him and the inspired pre-credits blowfish sequence.
Captain John: Imagine Buffy’s Spike channelling Adam Ant, with a penchant for men, women and poodles.
Big Question: Who is the mysterious “Gray” Captain John mentions before his enforced departure?
Trivia: The crew refers to their blowfish guest star as Hootie. Obviously.
Swear Count: Two.
Best Line:
Captain Jack: "I was looking for a little power struggle resolved by some naked wrestling."
