The great trailer debate, what happens to zombie babies on The Walking Dead and who thinks Robocop is a perfect movie? Find out in the latest Tweets Of The Week
There’s something very important for the future of free speech going on in the Twittersphere right now, but seeing as airport bombing hoaxes aren’t sci-fi unless they’re being committed by ugly ETs we will turn our attention elsewhere.
Namely to Rian Johnson, writer director of the wonderful Brick and September’s time-travelling thriller Looper . Two trailers were released for the film last week, but instead of urging you to watch them, Johnson took a different approach:
@ rcjohnso If you're already set on seeing Looper, I'd avoid any trailers from here on out. They don't ruin the movie, but they tip a few little things... that are fun to discover in the context of the movie.
Just to clarify - I approved all the trailers, they're great an they won't ruin anything big. But the small things they tip are fun to... discover in the movie.
All very sensible advice, particularly in the wake of recent concerns over just how much Prometheus gave away in its promotional material, and this 25 minute cut of all the footage Sony has released from The Amazing Spider-Man . If you’ve already decided you’re going to see a film, do trailers serve any other purpose than spoiling what’s to come?

@ rainnwilson Watching Phantom Menace for 1st time in like 11 years. JarJar Binks, the unintelligible, effeminate, racist stereotype holds up really well!

@ danharmon I'll hear any argument but you'll never change my mind: Robocop is a perfect movie.
@ wossy We just saw advert for Skyrim DawnGuard and my wife said "that's my plan for the summer"....
@ simonpegg Watched the Alien blu-ray last night, the '79 theatrical cut not the '03 director's cut. Bloody brilliant. Sigourney is still my pin-up.
@ Ssnyder1835 ...This is our exploration of the Joker, and the biggest, baddest, darkest, most twisted story we could do w/him. The game-changer.

@ kevwilliamson I killed three people today. Two with sharp objects and one boring gun to the head. The gun may get a rewrite.
