A sci-fi SXSW and the latest on Supernatural season seven in this week’s tweets.
Now that the Oscars have called last orders on the awards season, it’s the time of year that film festivals hog the spotlight. Although 99% of cinema-goers likely react with: a) indifference or b) annoyance (that we don’t get to see the films till weeks, if not months, later) to the preview season, there’s no denying that festivals like Sundance or SXSW are important for upping a film’s profile in the all-important American market.
With this in mind it’s interesting to note that most of the big hitters at this year’s SXSW festival, which took place in Austin Texas this past weekend, were of the sci-fi persuasion – our favourite kind! Simon Pegg and Nick Frost were there with Paul , taking the same road trip their characters do in the movie in the days leading up to SXSW, and posting pictures of their progress:

James Gunn’s Super got its premiere, Edgar Wright jetted Stateside to support buddy/writing partner Joe Cornish for the first public screening of Attack The Block . And Moon director Duncan Jones was there with his new movie Source Code , star Jake Gyllenhaal and, er, Pee Wee Herman, in the oddest piece of cross promotion for quite some time: http://www.twitvid.com/MDGSP
