The Last of Us retained the top spot on the UK all formats all prices chart for the week ended July 13. The PS3 exclusive has now headed the chart for five weeks running, just one less than the unbroken spells achieved by two of last year’s biggest releases, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and FIFA 12.
The week’s highest new entry was Mario and Luigi: Dream Team at No.3, one spot behind fellow 3DS exclusive Animal Crossing: New Leaf. FIFA 13 and Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition rounded off the top five, while Civilization V’s second expansion pack, Brave New World, entered at No.39 on the all formats chart and at No.2 on the PC full price chart.

Sony said last Monday that The Last of Us has become the fastest selling new franchise in PS3’s history. Including both physical and digital purchases, the game cleared 3.4 million sales between its global release on June 14 and July 3, also helping it become the quickest selling PS3 title of 2013.
We said in our The Last of Us review: "In terms of everything the modern action game has strived to be, The Last of Us is the full-stop at the end of the sentence, leaving no more to be said. Until next-gen. If this is our starting point for that, then the next five to ten years could be truly amazing.”
