Black Friday CPU deals were pretty great last year, and there's every indication the same will be true in 2024. Even since November, we've had some really exciting CPU news on both sides, and it now looks as though we'll have another set of CPUs from Intel and AMD that are compatible with their respective motherboard sockets. That means the last generations are getting even cheaper, and that's wonderful news for deal hunters.

Did you know that according to the Adobe shopping report, November, and the weeks surrounding Black Friday, are when we typically see the biggest drop across the board on the prices of PCs and their components? That means the best CPUs for gaming are an absolute steal around Thanksgiving week, so unless you're in need of an urgent upgrade, now is the time to buy.

Below, we've rounded up our expectations for the best Black Friday CPU deals in 2024.  Alongside that, we've tried to supply answers to other frequently asked questions including this year's Black Friday date so you can mark your calendar. Below that, you'll find a list of last year's best deals that should give you an idea of what was on offer and for how much.

Black Friday CPU deals: What to expect

Black Friday CPU deals in 2024 are sure to be tempting for anyone who hasn't upgraded to a DDR5-compatible system yet. AMD and Intel have multiple generations available that will give your system bona fide performance boosts. The best part? They're all going to be very affordable when November hits, especially since throughout this year, we've already seen CPU prices drop through the floor.

For starters, there's Intel, which has had to navigate a bit of a PR crisis this year due to its Raptor Lake processors facing widespread instability issues. Warranties and refunds have had to be involved, and motherboard patches have had to be rolled out - it really hasn't been a good look. That's all been happening as the 13th generation of Intel's CPUs has been getting cheaper, so with a poor reputation now in place, it's going to take some hefty deals to get gamers to build with their chips again come Black Friday.

That stands for team Blue's 13th and 14th generations, but the 12th gen group is still very viable, has DDR5 compatibility, and will be so, so cheap come November. Of course, you could wait for Intel's next generation, but since that'll be the first wave to adopt a new motherboard socket, you're going to be asking a lot of your wallet.

Then, there's AMD. Team Red's MO is to undercut Intel and Nvidia, and its Ryzen 7000 and 8000G processors are going to be extremely tempting for builders this Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It'll be interesting to see how desperate Intel will be, and how AMD responds, especially since its Ryzen 9000 Series only launched this year, and could face its first batch of deals.

No matter which team you go for, it's going to be an amazing time to buy gaming CPUs this November. Ready your wallets, check out our reviews, and expect some great deals. If you want an idea of prices from last year, scroll down and check out some of our favorite offers we've saved from 2023.

Black Friday CPU deals: FAQs

When will Black Friday CPU deals start?

Black Friday officially begins on Friday, November 29 this year. As we've seen in previous years, Black Friday CPU deals will likely start in the weeks leading up to that day. We do see the odd deal pop up from the end of October onwards, but the best deals do start to emerge at the beginning of Thanksgiving week. Cyber Monday will happen again this year, but Black Friday usually brings around more deals, and is the safer bet.

Where will the best Black Friday CPU deals be?

In all honesty, it's fairly even in regards to where you'll be able to find the best Black Friday CPU deals. Taking past years into consideration, we saw some of the deepest discounts come from Amazon and Newegg above the majority of other retailers, so we recommend keeping a close watch on these two online storefronts in particular. Also keep an eye on Best Buy and other big-box stores, as they've been keeping up recently as well.

Walmart: Average prices with few discounts available right now

UK:

eBuyer: Massive savings available on high AMD Ryzen chipsets
Currys: Good offers on the latest Ryzen processors
Laptops Direct: Minor but consistent deals on 9th, 10th, and 11th gen Intel

Last year's best Black Friday CPU deals

AMD Ryzen 5 5600G$309$139 at AmazonSave $119

AMD Ryzen 5 5600G | $309 $139 at Amazon
Save $119 - While we didn't quite reach record lows on the price here, we're not too far off. Even so, there was a 55% discount to be had on a reliable CPU.

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X$309$139 at AmazonSave $170

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X | $309 $139 at Amazon
Save $170 - In our books, this is the best value Ryzen CPU for gaming you can get a hold of. While the CPU itself is usually competitively priced and holds its own against 11th-gen i5 CPUs, this deal was worth the shoutout because it was only $20 off its lowest-ever Amazon price.

Intel Core i5-12600K$299$153 at AmazonSave $146

Intel Core i5-12600K | $299 $153 at Amazon
Save $146 - In our opinion, this is one of the best vale CPUs for gaming on the market because it's half the price of the previous high-end Intel processors, and still outperforms the majority of the Ryzen 5000 line and 11th gen i9 CPUs. In this deal, you got it cheaper than it had ever been - beating out its previous low of $178.

AMD Ryzen 5 7600X$299$209 at AmazonSave $90

AMD Ryzen 5 7600X | $299 $209 at Amazon
Save $90 - If it's a current-gen mid-ranger you're shopping for, seriously consider this. This was under the price of a 13600K on the Intel side, and you got similar performance for your money. We had seen this as low as $199.99, but its average price is around the $250 mark, so you still made a bit of a saving here.

Intel i7-12700K CPU | $299.99 $211 at Amazon
Save $88 -

Intel i7-12700K CPU | $299.99 $211 at Amazon
Save $88 - If you could find the 13th gen i5 for cheaper, or around the same price as this, we recommended you go for that since it's a better performer. Regardless, at this price, a chip that beats out an 11th gen i9 was extremely tempting.

Intel Core i5-13600K$329$270 at AmazonSave $59

Intel Core i5-13600K | $329 $270 at Amazon
Save $59 - The best pound-for-pound CPU on the market (at the time) was on offer. The price to performance on this bad boy is unreal, especially considering that it had never been cheaper than this since releasing a year previous.

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X$569 $288.99 at AmazonSave $200

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X | $569 $288.99 at Amazon
Save $200 - If you want unparalleled single-core performance, and a total powerhouse for the latest, most hardware-intensive games, you can't get a much better last-gen chip than this.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D |$322.32 $290 at Amazon
Save $32.32

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D |$322.32 $290 at Amazon
Save $32.32
- A great option for value for money, on the older AM4 architecture. This was 10% off during Black Friday CPU deals, and was perfect for anyone building a last-gen AMD rig.

Intel i7-13700K CPU | $419 $345 at Amazon
Save $74 -

Intel i7-13700K CPU | $419 $345 at Amazon
Save $74 - This is the CPU we used in our testing rig at the time, which we use to review all RAM, SSDs, and whatever else, so we could speak to its quality and consistency. Arguably, all you really need is a 13600K if you aren't seriously in need of extra headroom for content creation, but at this price, it was hard to turn down the extra power.

Intel i9-12900KF CPU | $399.99 $310 at Amazon
Save $90 -

Intel i9-12900KF CPU | $399.99 $310 at Amazon
Save $90 - Again, if you were able to find a 13th gen CPU for cheaper, we suggested going for that. Nonetheless, if it's an i9 on the cheap you're looking for, and you definitely have a graphics card in hand, this is one to look out for in future.

AMD Ryzen 9 7900X | $549.00 $388.98 at Amazon
Save $160.02 -

AMD Ryzen 9 7900X | $549.00 $388.98 at Amazon
Save $160.02 - While we had seen this CPU go for lower, a $160 discount wasn't too shabby considering how new this one was at the time.

Intel Core i9-12900K$359.99$315 at AmazonSave $44.99

Intel Core i9-12900K | $359.99 $315 at Amazon
Save $44.99 - If you had been on the fence with this one, a 12% discount may have been the slight nudge you needed to pick a nifty CPU with Integrated Graphics and 16 (8P+8E) Cores up to 5.2 GHz unlocked to boot. Only $5 more than the non-integrated graphics model too - not bad.

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D$449$358.98 at NeweggSave $90.02

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | $449 $358.98 at Newegg
Save $90.02 - We haven't had any hands-on time with them yet, but I'm eager to see how these X3D processors perform compared to 13th Gen Intel chips. From what I've heard, they were the holy grail of gaming CPUs at the time.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D | $699 $581 at Newegg
Save $118 -

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D | $699 $581 at Newegg
Save $118 - You had to use the code BFCCY2Z23 to get an extra $10 off this purchase for this deal, and boy was it worth it. Getting an X3D processor in the form of a Ryzen 9 with this big a saving was a great deal.

Ever since playing Journey at the age of 15, I’ve been desperate to cover video games for a living. After graduating from Edinburgh Napier University with a degree in Journalism, I contributed to the Scottish Games Network and completed an Editorial Internship over at Expert Reviews. Besides that, I’ve been managing my own YouTube channel and Podcast for the last 7 years. It’s been a long road, but all that experience somehow landed me a dream job covering gaming hardware. I’m a self-confessing PlayStation fanboy, but my experience covering the larger business and developer side of the whole industry has given me a strong knowledge of all platforms. When I’m not testing out every peripheral I can get my hands on, I’m probably either playing tennis or dissecting game design for an upcoming video essay. Now, I better stop myself here before I get talking about my favourite games like HUNT: Showdown, Dishonored, and Towerfall Ascension. Location: UK Remote
