Where are Fortnite Chickens and how to hunt or fly with them
This is how to find, hunt, and fly with Fortnite chickens
Fortnite chickens have always looked pretty furious, but thanks to the Avian Ambush Week running from March 8 to 15 that has now become reality. They'll still run away from you if you get too close, but deal damage to them and they'll come after you in a whirlwind of beak and claws. New-found aggression aside, you can still grab them and float through the air in Fortnite like a temporary glider, and bouncing off a stack of tires or similar with one held over your head can send you a significant distance, or you could just hunt it for some meat to increase your health. Whatever you want a Fortnite chicken for, here's everything you need to know about them.
Fortnite Chickens locations
As you can see from the map above, you're most likely to encounter Fortnite chickens in the desert biome along the south side of the island. As always with wildlife, these are approximate locations where they've been spotted and they can roam away from these positions during matches, so if you don't immediately spot any then have a look around the surrounding area.
How to fly with Fortnite chickens
If you want to fly with a Fortnite chicken, then you need to run up to it and quickly follow the Grab prompt that appears. It's easiest to do this as soon as you approach it, as if it's startled and begins fleeing then you'll have a much harder job catching up. Once you've grabbed one of the Fortnite chickens and are holding it aloft, your jumps will be considerably higher than usual and you'll gradually float back to the ground – leaping from a high point will allow you to glide even further, without fear of any fall damage when you touch down.
What are Fortnite Loot Chickens
Fortnite Loot Chickens appear randomly at spawn points, and can be identified by a colored glow around them. Hunt the chicken and they'll drop loot corresponding to the rarity that color represents, so you'll likely receive a decent weapon and some ammo in addition to the usual meat. It's not clear if Loot Chickens will only be available for Avian Ambush Week, or will stick around for the rest of the season.
