The Halo Infinite campaign co-op beta has started, and if you're on the Xbox Insider Program you and three friends can now take on the campaign together. If you want in on this action we've got the details below. Worth noting here before we proceed that if you're on Steam and didn't register for the Insider Program by July the 11th then you're not getting any coop action this time around in Halo Infinite.

To access the Halo Infinite campaign co-op beta on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, or Windows PC, you need to be a member of the Xbox Insider Program. If you're not already signed up then you can find full details here on how to do it, but the process mainly involves going to the Store and downloading the Xbox Insider Bundle on consoles or the Xbox Insider Hub on PC.

If you're on Steam then you'll need to have registered for the Insider Program before July 11 to be able to join. Assuming you're registered the process is then this:

1. Find the Xbox Insider Hub in apps under Games and Apps on the Xbox dashboard. If you need to download it, search for the Xbox Insider Hub in the Store.

2. Go to the Previews tab on the left side of the screen in the Insiders hub and navigate to the Halo Infinite – Insider page, where you will be able to join.

3. Once you've joined you'll be directed to a store page where you can download the coop build.

4. Once it's done you'll be able to play from the Home page or Games.

5. If you need an update, turn off and restart your Xbox to trigger the download.

How will the Halo Infinite co-op beta work

The Halo Infinite co-op beta will support up to four players with full crossplay between platforms, and all players will be Master Chief so there's no arguing over who gets to be the main man. To get started, you just need to form a fireteam within Halo Infinite multiplayer in the usual way, then select Start Co-Op from the main menu. You should note that ultimately the plan is for all unlocks and progress to seamlessly carry over between single player and co-op, but the Halo Infinite campaign co-op beta will function as a separate build during this test so your existing save won't be available, and any unlocks or progress you make during the beta won't carry over to the retail version afterwards.
