Despite a humungous 31% drop in sales, Activision's Madagascar animal party roars on at the top of the tree, fending off Take 2's sweet-toothed challenger Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which is the only game in the top 10 to enjoy increased sales this week (up by 6%).

The remainder of the top 10 is a lethargic shuffling of positions with no new entries making it into the elite flight. In fact, the entire chart remains relatively inactive thanks to a meagre offering of new releases and summer holiday pursuits occupying the time - and money - of gamers.

Codemasters' Worms 4 Mayhem wriggles its way up to 12 from 25 after last week's PC release, while TimeSplitters Future Perfect hurtles back into the chart at 17 following its re-release with a budget price tag. Empire's International Cricket Captain Ashes 05 is this week's solitary new entry, running in at 32.

Next week's release schedule remains depressingly barren, with only a handful of fairly uninspiring releases blowing about among the tumbleweed. A World of Warcraft special bundle pack (with Zboard and Keyset) is the most interesting prospect, unless you're a Pac-fan, in which case you're spoilt for choice with two new GBA titles, Pac-Man Pinball and Pac-Man World 2. Waka-waka.
