Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans trailer strikes
Rhona Mitra takes over the vamp duties
The trailer for the new Underworld prequel, Rise Of The Lycans, has hit the Internet.
Rise Of The Lycans represents both a changing of the guard and a back to basics approach for the franchise.
While it takes place years before the events of the first two Underworld movies, and replaces star Kate Beckinsale with Sonja, played by Rhona Mitra, it’s steadfastly in the world of those thrillers.
And while Patrick Tatopoulos, who was production and creature supervisor on the first two films has stepped up to helm, the likes of Bill Nighy and Michael Sheen are back playing the ancient vampire and werewolf enemies.
Romeo And Juliet tale
Apple has the trailer, which proves the prequel is essentially Romeo And Juliet with more fangs and extra-tight leather as Lucien (Sheen) and Sonja (Nighy's vampire daughter) fall in love.
It’s also got lots of everything you’d expect from the Underworld series. Which, depending on how you view the first two, is either awesome or enough to make you want to cry.
