Vesper won't return for Bond 22
Eon honcho denies rumours that Eva Green is set to return for 007's next mission
Okay, for those of you yet to perch your cheeks in front of Casino Royale, this might be deemed a spoiler. So please, get out of here… go on… we don’t want this to get messy.
Right. For those still here, the recent internet rumours suggesting that Eva Green is set to reprise her role of 007 heart breaker Vesper Lynd in the super-spy’s next mission is a bit of a melon-twister. No doubt, Vesper is a corking character but we in the totalfilm.com basement had visions that Bond 22, tentatively titled Risico, would include some nasty flashback sequences in an effort to shoehorn Green into the plot.
Well, dry your eyes. Uber-producer Barbara Broccoli has let it slip in a chat to IF Magazine that Vesper is not set to appear on screen in Risico.
“There is a rumour circulating that she's in the next film,” Broccoli states. “The fact is that the impact that she has on him in this film may be referred to in the next film, but we're still working on the script. But she doesn't come back to life.”
Hear that sound? It’s Bond fans the world over breathing a huge sigh of relief.
Broccoli and her production partner Michael G Wilson will meet with long-time Bond scribblers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade to discuss possible plots for the 22nd instalment in the new year. Filming is set to kick off on Daniel Craig’s second outing in the Aston around January 2008 in time for a November release that year.
