Walking Dead producer gives update on spin-off series
The Walking Dead producer Gale Ann Hurd has given a brief update on AMC's planned spin-off series, while also discussing the agonizing process of deciding which characters to kill off.
The spinoff series will reportedly be set in parallel with the events depicted in the main series, with Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis and Frank Dillane all signed up to star.
According to Hurd, work has now wrapped on the pilot episode, although she goes on to tell THR that, "we haven't been picked up to series yet."
That doesn't necessarily mean that AMC are on the fence, given that the network has plenty on its current plate with the main show and fellow tentpole show, Better Call Saul.
Meanwhile, Hurd went on to explain how killing off members of The Walking Dead's merry band of survivors is an extremely tricky business. "It's the hardest part of the whole show, honestly," she said. "It's much harder than saying goodbye to an actor."
The new series of The Walking Dead is currently airing in the UK and US. An air date for the spin-off pilot has yet to be confirmed.
