Sensing there’s nothing that audiences enjoy more than watching police officers act tough, crack skulls and consider taking names, Warners has decided to keep the Training Day/Street Kings flame alight by plucking another cop project from development, slapping it into cinematic body armour and pushing it out on the streets.
The studio has hired festival favourite Right At Your Door director Chris Gorak to re-write and direct SIS. The acronym stands for Special Investigations Section, an ultra-tough squad in the force designed and trained to deal with the most brutal criminals on the streets. Unsurprisingly, the film began life as a thriller called In-Crime, penned by The Shield’s Kurt Sutter, which has been languishing in development hell, passing through the script-doctoring hands of Inside Man’s Russell Gerwitz on the way.
It’s casting right now and The Hollywood Reporter has its badge ready .
