Exclusive: The film that inspired Studio Ghibli
Studio Ghibli is one of the most renowned, successful animation studios in the world.
And we've got our hands on one of the movies that inspired its co-founder Isao Takahata to form the company.
The story behind The King & The Mockingbird is amazing in itself - started in 1948 and finished in 1980, and only now getting a theatrical release, it's a French animation classic. And one that obviously had an impact on the creative luminaries of today.
In the latest issue of Total Film, he says: "It showed me the possibilities of animation... this film was way beyond established ideas at the time."
