Watch how Game of Thrones filmed that Battle of the Bastards scene all in one shot
A new making-of featurette from the Game of Thrones Season 6 Blu-ray release shows how the crew made that extended, one-shot scene of Jon Snow in the Battle of the Bastards. Creating one of the most compelling action scenes in television history all with a single camera takes some significant prep work, it turns out.
Here's the clip starting with an introduction from director Miguel Sapochnik, via Vulture.
I love watching actors stab their swords through one another's armpits. It's deeply gratifying that the dumb sword fighting moves I did while playing around as a kid are actually useful for producing grand, special-effects assisted fight scenes. We'll see if Game of Thrones Season 7 can top the Battle of the Bastards when the penultimate season debuts in summer 2017.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
