Watch the Game of Thrones season 7 trailer and see the 5 biggest fan theories

It’s finally here – and it doesn’t disappoint. Game of Thrones season 7 has its first Iron Throne-themed teaser starring Cersei, Daenerys, and Jon Snow. Watch it below and then get really stuck in with some of the best fan theories about the trailer as the show gears up for a dramatic conclusion.

If you didn’t quite catch the meaning from the trailer with the cover of ‘Sit Down’ by James blaring through your speakers, it’s all about who will be sitting on the Iron Throne by the time Winter has come (and gone). And what about those lyrics, eh? They sound pretty fitting for what might be still to come...

But, wait a second, where is Dany sitting?

Some inquisitive Redditors have noted that she’s sitting on a throne in Dragonstone which is an island just off Blackwater Bay but, more importantly, the Targaryen ancestral home. Well, well, well… is Dany arriving home sooner than expected?

Just as things are heating up in the trailer, Cersei’s breath starts to run cold and we get a glimpse of the Night King’s eye. One of the more far-fetched theories is that Cersei will become the Night King’s Queen. I mean, hey, no-one else has wintry breath in this trailer so it’s not the worst theory in the world.

And as for those thrones – Reddit also point out that Cersei and Dany are lording it up in impressive seats whereas poor old Jon Snow has to settle for a rickety wooden chair. Symbolism, much? Does Jon even want to sit on the Iron Throne?

I’ll even add in a theory of my own: Cersei, Dany and Jon Snow complete the Westerosi trifecta but where is Sansa? Jon Snow is looking mightily menacing in this trailer. Is he about to abandon Sansa and go into business for himself?

Game of Thrones season 7 will debut July 16 on HBO in the US and July 17 on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
