To this day, Super Smash Bros. Melee for the GameCube is seen by some as the pinnacle of Nintendo's fighting game series thanks to its impressive cast, well-balanced mechanics, and memorable levels. Fans even hold a special fondness for the game's intro, which was remade by more than 30 animators and posted to YouTube yesterday:
As jarring as the transitions can be, I like that some of the collaborators on this project took it very seriously while others clearly took some … artistic liberties with character portrayals. It's a shame that some of the flashes go by so quickly you can't appreciate the work in one viewing. Oh well, guess I'll just have to watch it again. And again.
