Westworld teaser warns, "violent delights have violent ends"

The future is a messed up place. I thinks this is a truth generally applicable to any sci-fi movie or TV series, but it really, really rings true for HBO's Westworld. The television adaptation of Michael Crichton's 1973 film of the same name got a new trailer this week, and while I don't want to spoil anything, expect plenty of nudity and violence - it is an HBO show after all.

In case the talk of "are you real," "glitches," and "drives" didn't give it away, Westworld is a Wild West theme park inhabited by androids. Tourists pay to be immersed in this fantasy, with the realness of the humanoid machines being one of the primary selling points. Of course, were the machines to ever gain self-awareness, you would have one hell of a mess on your hands…

Co-starring Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, James Marsden and Ed Harris, Westworld will debut on HBO in October.
