White PS3 bundle ships January 27

We'd call Sony's latest PlayStation 3 bundle the White Whale of current-gen consoles, if it didn't seem an inappropriate moniker for the super-slim revision. The limited-edition Classic White PS3 Instant Game Collection Bundle comes with a 500 GB hard drive and a year of PlayStation Plus to fill it with stuff, all for $300.

The lily-white PS3 was previously available only in Japan, much to the chagrin of North American color coordinators. The bundle's year-long PS Plus membership (which can be appended to the end of current subscriptions) comes with all the regular fixings of 12 free Instant Collection games a month, six more if you have a PS Vita, discounts on PSN purchases, and various other little incentives.

The bundle will be available in stores starting January 27, so drink all of your red wine before then--unless you're underage, in which case you should ask your parent or guardian to drink it for you.
